Pair of Japanese Meiji enamel on copper & silver wire cloisonne chrysanthemum vases.
Matching pair of left and right Japanese Meiji period cloisonne vases, slender tapered with a short neck and everted rim; copper gilt mounts; worked in silver wire and decorated in three shades of green leaf enamel, with butterflies among various blooming chrysanthemums - large white to small red and yellow flowers on a grey-green ground; interior and under base in lime green enamel.
Condition:
One vase has enamel chip by the shoulder rim ( back of the vase); minor bruising on the background to the body; the other vase has three chips on the background enamel (one on the body; two on the shoulder); both vases have few light scratches and few tight hairlines to the background. No other visual damage or restoration.
Apart from the damage to the background areas (as noted above), there is no loss to the enamel pattern on greyish green background (to either vase),
