antique partridge whistling sheet metal decoys.  a rubber tub would be attached to the bottom to let the hunter create a warble for the bird to call.  each has a grate in the neck for such.


 tole peintre [painted sheet iron] whistling decoy partridge, with detailed plumage. they have supports or legs plus an air intake below, with a mesh grill aperture to the breast. Thought to be British or French and dates from the late 19th century.
