What can I say but wow! This is one beautiful mantle circa 1891. All tiger oak with an extremely large beveled mirror. It sits upon a mantle shelf that is 11” thick loaded with hand carved acanthus leaves, beading, egg and dart and fluted dentil molding. This is flanked by a carved serpentine base upon which have tripled carved Reverse tapered columns. Columns have a joined egg and dart capitals. These support a serpentine upper mantle shelf that sits below a heavy header board. The unit has a whole is very heavy. It is 60” wide and 100” high. I also have the cast iron surround for the firebox. Fire box opening is 41 1/2“ x 39“ high.
