This project actually started as a rail road project (high-rail truck), but since buyer's showed zero interest, off came the rail road wheels and front cattle catcher. I kept the aluminum John Deere tractor cab originally installed (and it's rail road roof mounted head lamp), but added a fresh new Tonka "Dodge" grille, after having to re-construct the entire front end. The frame and rear fenders are home made, the rubber tires and stainless steel hub caps are brand spanking new $$$ Tonka replacement parts. About the boom, this idea came from an early 1900's tow truck boom, except mine is a newer version that looks similar, and operates similar to the old version. What the early 1900's didn't have is my (make pretend) hydraulic cylinder that operates the boom. Mine has a knurled thumb screw that can hold/lock the boom in any lifted position (see last photo above). Boom does rotate from side to side (see next to last photos above). Sooooo, as you are increasing your "only one on earth" toy collection, keep this piece in mind.  The rig now has decals on door panels and boom since photos were taken.
