Duck Lake in Forest Park St Louis MO Missouri Scenic Vintage Linen Postcard Unposted

Duck Lake in Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri

“Duck Lake in 1,400-acre Forest Park, located in the western section of St. Louis. A part of the Park’s world-famous zoological gardens, the lake is the home of many kinds of ducks, geese and swans. Many varieties of the birds have never been pinioned, and fly about the park at will.”

Duck Lake was named for the large number of ducks in the area. The lake and surrounding park were part of preparations for the 1904 World’s Fair. The zoological gardens, now part of the Saint Louis Zoo, were established in 1910. The zoo has since become one of the most renowned zoological parks in the world.
