The game is designed for two players, who command either the Germans or the Americans.  The game is a tactical-level wargame, with individual units and soldiers on the board. Players fight to control specific locations rather than an entire battle.

The game is played over a series of turns, each divided into three phases: a Supply Phase, an Order Phase, and an Activation Phase.

Gmeplay incorporates a degree of luck through the use of six-sided dice and cards, which is more typical of board games than traditional wargames.
