This is a pair of identical cobalt French salt cellars with spoons. The Salts are hand cast and finished with a swag, ribbon, plaque and lions as well as footed lion feet. The inserts are cobalt blue hand blown and finished glass. The cobalt inserts are original to the sterling silver bases. Both salts are in very good condition with no damage, only micro chips to the top edges of the glass inserts. This set is accompanied by two sterling silver original to the salts, salt spoons. The salts as well as the spoons are hallmarked by the maker, Ernest Eschwege. The salt castings feature the French guarantee of Minerva which is a an old production remark, indicating that the set is at least 800 silver.
