Original painting of
the Incredible String Band
(Robin Williamson and Mike Heron)
painted in 1969
by
Bill Gall

c. 103 x 91cm (in the frame)

(as seen on the Antiques Roadshow tv programme in the UK in 2015 - just google 'Incredible String Band painting Antique Roadshow youtube')

This painting has had just three owners - the original owner who purchased it from the artist (and whose daughter took it on to the Roadshow), Andy Roberts (founder of the Be Glad ISB fanzine and organiser of the ISB conventions in the 90s which were instrumental in the band reforming at the end of that decade), and myself.  The recording of the tv programme, emails and documents are available as full provenance of this history.

The painting itself is in good condition with no significant failings, although it could benefit from a professional clean.

The picture frame however is in poor condition, and at some point has had tape added to the rear to hold the board in place.  The painted board could certainly benefit greatly from a new and, I think, somewhat different frame to better show itself off.

As you will see from the clip of the show, the painting was valued at £2000 a decade ago.

The painting is in Chester in the North West of England.  If it sells at or near its asking price I will include personal delivery by myself to anywhere in the UK.  If it falls below this, delivery will be by an insured courier service.  Outside of the UK I will only sell through eBay's global shipping programme.

If you have any questions at all, and if you are thinking of purchasing this I am sure you will, then please do send me a message.

[included in the photo section is an image of the artist, Bill Gall, and a photo of another of his paintings (of the Rolling Stones), which does have some auction history]
