Paul McCartney MPL TLS letter with a very personal touch to an old Liverpool
friend and confidant Joe Flannery, who played a pivotal role in the success of
The Beatles. The MPL letter to Joe from Paul is signed and has an smiley face
doodle by Paul. But that's just the beginning....Paul added ".....a Splendid
time is guaranteed for all" from the song "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite"
from the monumental Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album as well
as TA (Thank You) FOR ASKING! love Paul with his smiley face doodle, all
written out and doodled by him.
It's important to note that Paul was going to sign the letter in his full name
like he would to a fan or somebody he didn't know. Joe was a personal
friend of Paul's since The Beatles were in their infancy.
This Paul letter to Joe is for the serious collector who understands just how
significant it is. A napkin that Paul wrote out a few lines of Why Don't We
Do it In The Road from the White album sold for over $36,000.00 15 years
ago.... We're talking about a song from the Sgt. Pepper album here!!!!
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize the significance of what
Paul wrote in this letter to Joe.
The partial lyric from The Beatles monumental Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's
Club Band. Anything associated with Sgt. Pepper, the not even questioned
best album ever made in pop music history. I don't write/ type this out just
to pump up an item to sell. Anyone that knows me knows, my passion for
music and the years I spent in the music business.
It would take a book (which Joe did write one) to write about the early years
of The Beatles and how important of a role Joe played in them.
Brian Epstein entrusted Joe (his childhood friend) to handle the bands
performance bookings and was basically Brian's right hand man. The
Beatles were unknown at the time, Joe was familiar with the music scene
in northern England and had connections to securing shows for them and
played an important role in early days of The Beatles success. They would
regularly crash at Joe's apartment after shows and work on writing songs
while staying at his home and just became friend with him..Especially John.
In The Beatles world, there was what became known as their inner circle,
which was them and most notably Brian, Mal and Neil....Joe was part of
that circle in their early days.
