Hotel on Fire
Gaysville, Vermont

This antique photo is identified by handwriting on the back that says it's a hotel fire in Gaysville, Vermont.  When I searched newspaper records, I could only find one hotel that was owned by James Clay and later taken over by James Smith.  The photo shows an active fire with heavy smoke.

The visible area of the photo measures 4 9/16" x 3 1/2".  The photo is displayed in a 6 5/8" x 5 3/8" card frame.  The photo has some stains and discoloration.  The frame has fading, wear to the corners and edges, and a diagonal crease that doesn't affect the photo.
