Vintage Carver C-15V Audio/Video Preamp
For sale- a Vintage Carver C-15V Audio/Video Preamp as pictured. I say as pictured, I am able to get it to power up and the display to come on, but after a short while the display goes blank and the only indication of power at that point it the little green LED on the Volume knob. I was briefly able to get it to pass a signal and it sounded very good right up to the point I tried to turn the Loudness off and then it quit altogether. Usually it only completely powers up for maybe five seconds.
Sometimes you can power it down and back up again and that will work briefly. But more often I have to disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable I am pointing to in the last picture. Also let me point out in that same picture that the silver metal piece sticking up, presumably with output transistors attached, that gets very warm considering the limited on time. That’s all I can tell you about it functionally, and accordingly it is sold for repair ONLY and I will not accept a return.
The only reason I have priced a non-functional preamp so high is that this particular one is serial number 000001. I don’t know if that makes any difference in terms of desirability given that it will need to be repaired. But if I price it at what serial number 22222 might be worth and somebody buys it instantly I will never know. I have only had one person in 25+ years pay me more than I was asking for something. But don’t say yes yet, there’s more. IF, and only IF, you pay the Buy It Now price I will include a Carver polo shirt as pictured, size XL. Accepted Best Offers, oh well, no shirt.
All items are sold as is with no warranty offered unless one is specifically stated. Any testing done will be explicitly stated in the listing and any accessory items will also be mentioned or pictured. If it isn’t pictured or mentioned you can assume it is not part of the sale. Included in this sale is an Owners Manual for a CT-28V which I am pretty sure was the same piece with a tuner built in.
Please check out my other listings for more interesting vintage A/V equipment. Check back often!
Please add a $38.99 flat rate for shipping anywhere in the continental US (which does NOT include Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam or APO/FPO addresses). I will ship via the carrier and level of service of my choice unless we specifically decide on a favored carrier option. I will, at my option, ship worldwide via USPS for the actual cost as determined by USPS.com.
If this item requires a standard modular computer style AC cord, I
no longer ship those automatically as I figure most people have a box full of
them by now. If you need one and request
it I will be happy to include one as long as I don’t think it compromises the
shipment. If the piece ships without
this request NO AC cord will be included and I will NOT ship one after the
fact.
