This listing is for an antique Medieval Knight Royal Arms shield, a carved wooden plaque featuring the Three Lions Shield, designed as a small wall decoration. It is believed to be handmade in England about end of 19c. The piece is a visually striking ,with rich historical and symbolic meaning tied to England's royal heritage. The plaque traditionally displays the three lions in a specific stance called "passant guardant," with their heads turned to face the viewer. The plaque measures 12" by 5 1/2" at its widest part. The carving is excellent, with no chips. After careful observation, I noticed that the hanging where the circle is had a small split, but it has been completely fixed (see picture #4). This was minimal damage and is hardly noticeable. Good antique condition.
