AURORA WATCH Co.

Aurora, Illinois 1883 – 1892

Aurora Watch Co. was organized in mid – 1883 with the goal of getting one jeweler in every town to handle Aurora watches.  The first movements were 18 size, full plate and were first sold in the fall of 1884.  There were several watches marked No. 1.  Total production of 6 size watches was 7400.  For the most part Aurora produced medium to low grade (Elgin, Waltham, Illinois and others also made low grade watches).  At one time they produced about 100 watches per day.  The Hamilton Watch Co. purchased the company in June 1890.

The example presented here is a Scarce Open Face, 18 size, Full Plate Gilt, 15 Jewels, Lever Set, "Aurora Watch Co.", No. 135,361, Circa: 1886.  Very clean, and running and complete movement only. The condition of the dial and movement plates look like they were made "Yesterday". THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET CEDs or Bit COIN. BUY HARD ASSETS, SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.
