Established in 1987, the squadron is based at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, and deploys globally to support U.S. and coalition operations. In addition to mine countermeasures, HM-15 performs secondary missions like heavy-lift transport, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and vertical replenishment, making it a versatile unit in both combat and peacetime operations.
