Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a unique, older Shure Brothers PE56 model dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1960's or 70's which was the first generation PE56. This model was made for a short time before transitioning to the modern PE56D which came with the practical XLR cable connection. The mic comes with a short Belden cable, new exterior pop filter and clip.
Shure Brothers as well as several other companies kept the vintage 3 & 4 pin cable connection on many of their mics until the late 1970's which is why this PE56 has the vintage cable.

Pic # 2 shows the PE56D model in an older Shure catalog I have. Again, this is the earlier, rarer 1st gen PE56.

This obscure mic is really nothing more than a quality Shure 565 model mic but the 565 was set at Low impedance as where the PE56 is set at High impedance. A lot of audio equipment back in the day was High Z such as guitar amplifiers, P.A systems and HAM radio set ups so the Shure 565 would not work on that equipment. The simple solution was factory setting the 565 to Hi Z and relabeling the mic. Hence the PE56. Most audio equipment today is Low Z so you see far fewer Hi Z mics being sold anymore.

The PE56 & PE56D are rugged, quality studio mics with excellent cardioid qualities and a very strong signal. Clean and smooth is the tone and sounds quite lovely. Yes, the mic is Hi Z but it certainly sounds far more mid range with a touch of bass. A really nice mic if you have a deeper voice like myself.
The dimensions of this mic are appx 6 inches long X 2 inches wide at the globe. It's got a little weight to it but not uncomfortable to hold for prolonged periods of time.

As you can see the mic itself is pristine showing almost no wear at all and a real gem. They rarely come this nice and it's got decades of life left. I just had to give the mic a lite cleaning and I had to replace the inner foam pop filter as the original was completely degraded and gone. This help greatly with sound characteristics.
I'm also including the new exterior black foam pop filter for improved sound performance. It fits like a glove and looks great on the mic. You may not need it for every situation but it's there for when you do.
Everything is tight on this mic. Nothing loose or missing. The front globe is free of dents, odors and tarnish. The black plastic cartridge is free of cracks or fractures.

The satin chrome handle absolutely glows. I would rate the mic a very conservative 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. Please let the detailed pics be your guide.

The short 6 foot Belden cable is included. It's soft, pliable and in excellent physical and working condition. A standard detachable Switchcraft male 1/4 inch connector is attached for use with all guitar amplifiers and many other audio equipment.
The mic clip is just as nice as the mic. It's an older Shure A-25 model and grips the mic firmly.   This clip will screw onto any stand you have and it provides a wide degree of tilt forwards and backwards.

This is a nice package deal and the mic will certainly draw attention due to it's nice tone and physical appearance.
