Jake Yacnich is a Des Moines, Iowa native who played professional baseball in the minor leagues. He grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Dowling Catholic High School, a well-known local school with a strong athletic program. Yacnich went on to play college baseball at the University of Iowa, where he was an all-Big Ten Conference shortstop, showcasing his skills as a standout infielder. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 8th round of the 2014 MLB June Amateur Draft, marking the start of his professional career. Yacnich played in the Angels' minor league system, reaching as high as Triple-A with the Salt Lake Bees.
