Offered here is a large original vintage photograph with hand coloring by obscure Detroit photographer James Arthur, circa 1907. Photograph measures 20 x 16 inches and the overall framed size is 27 x 23 inches. Photograph is signed and dated at lower left.
Photograph is in very good condition with exceptionally nice vintage frame.
Having looked at many other photographs by James Arthur, this is surely one of his best.

James Arthur (born: Montreal, Quebec, 1855, died Detroit, Michigan, 1912), whose artistic skill in photography won him notable recognition in many local, state and national exhibits. He was educated in Montreal with strong artistic inclinations. He arrived in Detroit in 1881 and began an active association with photographer J. E. Watson. By 1883, he became a senior partner in the firm of Arthur & Philbric, a partnership that continued for eight years, after which Mr. Arthur continued in business as proprietor of the Arthur Studios. After James Arthur's death in 1912, Arthur Studios continued to operate until about 1930, run by Kenneth Arthur, one of James' three sons.
