In the wake of its acquisition of Eastern Airlines’ Central and South American routes, American Airlines added nonstop Boeing 727 service from its Miami hub to Managua, Nicaragua on December 15, 1990. Previous service to Managua had been provided by Pan American World Airways and Continental Airlines.
