Offered here is an original hand painted porcelain cabinet plate, with cobalt and gilt rim. The plate with beautiful portrait of Anna R. Kaula is done by the prominent studio of Franz Xaver Thallmaier in Munich, Germany, circa 1890-1910. Plate measures 9 1/2 inches in diameter. Plate is currently housed in a shadowbox frame, under glass. Overall frame measures 14 x 14 inches.
This portrait of Nanette Anna R. Kaula (1812-1876), a German burgher's wife, is after a portrait by Joseph Stieler in 1829, when Anna was just 17. Anna Kaula was the daughter of Court Agent Raphael Kaula. In 1838 she married a wealthy Hamburg banker who's firm was granted a real estate license in Munich. She died childless in 1876. She wears a purple and black velvet dress, adorned only with the golden arrow in her hair and brooch.
Excellent condition. No scratches, chips or repairs.
Shipping: Plate will be separated from frame for safer shipping. Buyer can also choose to exclude frame. Frame is in nice condition but foam behind plate will need to be replaced.
