- Leaf springs are an essential part of the trailer suspension system. The leaf spring provides a connection point for the axle of the trailer, suspending it on the frame of the trailer. Each leaf spring bends to absorb road impacts during driving, allowing the axle to move independently of the rest of the trailer to a certain extent. This helps reduce the wear and tear of the trailer, maintain smooth driving, and ensure horizontal driving on bumpy and uneven surfaces.
- The double leaf spring is connected to the hanger welded to the trailer. One end of the spring will be directly connected to the hanger through suspension bolts. The other end will be connected to the release strap suspended on the hanger. These release straps allow the spring to move and rotate so that it can better compensate for uneven road surfaces. If you have a double or triple axle trailer, the release strap will be connected to an equalizer that connects multiple springs.
- To install this leaf spring, you need a hanger, a release strap, and suspension bolts. If you only replace the spring, the suspension bracket may still be welded onto your trailer. However, you should replace the release straps as they are usually the first parts to wear out. You can also choose to replace the old suspension bolts. We suggest that you also replace the other leaf spring in the settings. Because the spring will sag and elongate when worn, this new spring may not fully match the old spring and may affect the alignment of the trailer.
- If you are manufacturing a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring you have and your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kit used with them, springs can be configured for single axis, series, or triaxial applications. If there is no complete kit suitable for your setup, you can also purchase hangers and other suspension components separately.

A: Of course, but we strongly recommend replacing both leaf springs at the same time, as over time, the leaf springs may sag and elongate. If it means replacing one, it is likely to not match the leaf spring on the other side, which may cause the trailer to lose its horizontal balance and disrupt your layout.
