Love it, helps in all as you mentioned.I use it for practice, learning new songs, i enjoy the
chord finder, helps quicken my learning.I slow it down for lead, and just go over and over a
song with your chords, and improvise from there, like two guitars.

I've tried a Tascam Guitar Trainer, and SS is miles better. There are some musical pieces that the Tascam can't slow down enough to pick out how the original player is using the notes. SS, on the other hand, even at 20% speed, manages to maintain enough integrity from the original input that not only can you pick out which notes are being used, but also how they are being used - hammers, pulls, legato, bends and releases. I think particularly of the first solo in Iron Maiden's 'Flight Of Icarus' by Dave Murray: Tascam - no chance; Song Surgeon - Nailed!

I was using Cubase LE for changing the key and speed of a song. With Cubase LE there was distortion if the change in speed was large. With song surgeon there was no distortion. I use song surgeon to make karaoke discs.
