3 Beautiful photos by R. Brownell McGrew lithograph print of native American Indian, featured in Arizona Highways in 1969 that featured Navajo and Hopi Indians. I had ordered the whole McGrew set after attending U. Of Arizona in Tucson and forgot I had them until recently. They measure about 4" wide+ 5" high. These are relatives of the "first people" in USA. Combine lots for 1 shipping.
McGrew was originally from Columbus,Ohio, born in 1916 and lived until 1994. He was a master in art, mixing realism with impressionism, mixing linseed Oil and turpentine with his paints to give then a fresh off the easel look. He did amazing work capturing individuals and even whole families in the Navajo and Hopi collection.
He taught painting at the Otis Art Institute in LA before working as a commercial artist for Columbia Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn Studios. He befriended "the first people" of the Navajo and Hopi tribes during his cross country trips through Arizona and New Mexico, where he painted people with sensitivity but realism. These are very high quality Lithograph prints offered back then by Arizona Highways, a very classy magazine.
