Mike Fiers is famous for two reasons! First, Mike Fiers is 1 of only 7 pitchers in MLB history to throw no-hitters in both leagues! On Aug. 21, 2015, Astros pitcher Mike Fiers no-hit the Dodgers 3-0 in Houston on 10 strikeouts!

And then he did it again, this time pitching for the Oakland A's on May 7, 2019, Mike Fiers no-hit the Cincinnati Reds 2-0 at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Coincidentally, this was the 300th No-Hitter in MLB history!

Mike Fiers is one of only 7 pitchers in MLB history (since 1869) to throw No-Hitters in both leagues joining Hall of Famers Cy Young, Jim Bunning, Nolan Ryan & Randy Johnson. Wow!

But, even more famous, or infamous, is Mike Fiers for "outing" the 2017 Houston Astros World Series championship team, which he was a member of, in a November 2019 article in The Atlantic, for stealing signs using a centerfield hidden camera, an "in-dugout" video monitor, trash can & I assume, a bat, and even rumors of a microphone, or "wire", worn by Astros players in their uniform upper lapels (in lieu of wearing an ear-piece), in case the crowd got too loud & Astros batters couldn't hear the banging of the trash can tipping which pitch was coming next.

Jose Altuve's 2019 ALCS series-ending walkoff home run against the Yankees is tainted as Altuve rounds 3rd base during the walkoff visibly pleading w/ teammates not to tear at his uniform upper lapel area, where, perhaps, an audio device is hidden. He starts "yanking" on his upper lapel rounding 3rd waving his finger at teammates seemingly admonishing them "No, no"..."do not mob me" & to "be careful with my uniform".

Odd for a sport where players usually revel in such moments & get absolutely mobbed by teammates at the plate for a game-ending, league championship series walkoff home run.

And one could argue that Altuve had no idea that his lapel-grabbing, finger-waving admonitions, gestures & very words, rounding 3rd against the Yankees in the 2019 ALCS, would be so scrutinized in super slo-motion (as they apparently had not been for some time as no reporter ever picked up on it & asked Altuve what he was saying or referring to).

Wait!...2019 ALCS?? I thought this was sign stealing from the 2017 Astros?? How long has this gone on? This could have been going on for 5-10 years...just trace the origins to Cora & possibly Beltran. If you look at Latin players culpability in the 1990s-2000s MLB steroid scandal, it all began w/ the Texas Rangers & their Dominican baseball camp/school/affiliate.

Let's look at who came up to the big leagues w/ the Texas Rangers... Jose Canseco, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, Rafael Palmiero, Juan Gonzalez, Miguel Tejada, Nelson Cruz, Josh Hamilton and I could go on & on!! All steroid-using cheaters!!

Or, in the case of the Astros, sign-stealing cheaters! Astros manager A.J. Hinch, GM Jeff Luhnow, Red Sox mgr. Joey Cora & Mets mgr. Carlos Beltran were all fired by their respective owners/teams (& also suspended for a year by MLB in at least 2 cases).

If it was proven to be more widespread than had already been reported, the sign stealing scandal could have rocked MLB for much longer than it did. Thank God for Mike Fiers putting an end to all this! The truth will set you free!

Or in the case of Mike Fiers and MLB, the truth saved the game!!
