The first microwave produced for home use: The Amana Radarange in working condition. This vintage Amana Radarange microwave is a true gem from the 1960s. It's perfect for collectors who appreciate retro and mid-century design.

RR-2 model from 1968

RR-2  (1968)

Essentially an RR-1 with the addition of a STOP button, however if this is not to your liking you can still open the door to stop cooking. The lower timer has been bumped up to 30min and the sequential timing dropped. Upper and lower timers swap locations where they will stay through the 4D series. Timers can now be spun either direction and time increases CW. The perforated door screen continues to lack clear glass and plastic panels on either side, making splatter cleanup difficult but letting cooking aromas waft out. Early RR-2's lack an end of cycle buzzer, while later ones make it standard, and have a slide switch under the bottom lip of the control panel to disable it (as it will sound continuously until you hit Stop).

Note: These units vent out the rear rather than at the top of the control panel.

With its unique radar range microwave technology, this microwave is a one-of-a-kind piece that is sure to be a conversation starter in any home or collection. It has been well-preserved over the years. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of history with this Amana Radarange microwave!
