19th C. Antique Italian Linen Figural Punto Tirato Drawn Work Lace Tablecloth
Originating from Italy in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, this form meets function textile truly is a work of art that will boggle the mind!
Hand made in an ecru linen, it features a variety of animals and mythical creatures, including wild cats, fire birds, eagles, and a mysterious double headed beast. Such a large, detailed example of pictorial mosaic lace is rare to come by, and this is a stunning example!
115” x 66”
Very minimal staining. I highlighted the only spots I could find with red circles in the photographs. Fraying present throughout the border, though I’m not entirely unsure that this wasn’t from the style in which it was finished, because it all seems absolutely secure without threat of unravelling.
