For those who follow my listings, this is a bit of a change of pace. I am helping the widow of one of our former business partners sell off some antiques and collectibles from a 90 year life of traveling the world and collecting things. Please note that these listings are outside of my normal wheelhouse. If you are looking at this you are likely to be far more versed in the subject matter than I am. If you are unsure about anything please ask questions. I'll be happy to find out what I can. Please be sure to look at my other listings for upcoming new and interesting things! If you saw my last listing the Gibeon slab has sold. The family wasnt going to sell this slice, but eventually decided to. This is the only other meteorite I will be selling. Coming up will be some fossils and mineral specimens if thats your cup of tea..
What do you get for someone who has it all? A huge chunk of an asteroid, that's what! When looking for comps to price this slab of meteorite I could find nothing comparable in the 'ebay research' feature going back 3 years. And when looking on google the next closest thing are slabs that are a tiny fraction of the size. Bought at the Tucson gem and mineral show about 20 years ago, it is my understanding that most big pieces like this have disappeared from sale. According to the information I have this was the second largest slab produced, with the one bigger one going to a museum. measures 31" wide and 21" tall. On my shipping scale this weighs 9kgs or about 20 lbs. Please dont expect this measurement to be accurate down to the last gram. This will ship in a crate to protect it in transit. The slab is a very uniform 7/16th of an inch thick. it doesnt deviate from this measurement by more than about 1mm at any point.
Also please note: I have set this for US sales only. I regularly export high value shipments, but never before have I exported collectible / antiquity sort of items. If there are no import export restrictions for this item I am happy to consider an international sale for this piece, so that would have to be an issue to consider on a case by case basis. Please feel free to contact me if you are out of the US and have an interest in this. Will ship in a crate, inside a sturdy box.
