You are purchasing a rare chromolithograph depicting the pivotal moment of the Battle of Tientsin at which time Japanese marines stormed the city gates while under concentrated fire from Boxers and Imperial Chinese troops. The image is quite large, measuring 24" x 20" including the matte.
The chromolithograph has German language script reading "China. Angriff auf Tientsin dutch japanische Seesoldaten," which translates as "China. Attack on Tientsin by Japanese Marines." The matt
On the reverse there is text that has evidently been cut from the top of the original print indicating that it was printed in Japan in 1908 as part of a series of images from the Boxer Rebellion, and that it depicts the Combined Armies Assault on Tientsin.
