Field Marshall Jan Smuts original signed handwritten letter dated 19 October 1919. 

The letter measuring approx 18 cm by 11 cm is in very good condition condition with a horizontal crease across the centre (see photo's). 

Field Marshall Jan Smuts, (24 May 1870 - 11 September 1950) was a South African statesman, military leader & philosopher. In addition to holding various military & cabinet posts, he served as prime minister of the Union of South Africa from 1919 to 1924 & 1939 to 1948.
