c 1933 Shelley China (post Wileman and Foley) hand painted Art Deco tea trio in pattern "Phlox" blue #W12189, produced at the old Wileman & Co / Foley China pottery works in Fenton, Staffordshire.
This brilliant trio bears exquisitely detailed, hand painted flowers in glowing tones of blue, pink and grey on a lustrous, bright white background. The Regent shaped cup, deep round saucer and the square Mayfair shaped side plate are an excellent grouping.
Dimensions:
Cup 7 cm tall and 10.5 cm across from edge of cup to outer edge of the handle.
Saucer 14 cm diameter.
Side plate 14 cm square.
In excellent original vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify. The colours remain clear and bright.
The underside of all pieces bear the Shelley England back stamp; the pattern name and hand written pattern number; and the cup bears the registration number 781613 for the Regent cup shape which was registered on 17/3/1933.
I have listed numerous sets of trios, a milk jug and a spare side plate in this pattern separately.
