Ready to Run Powered Chassis for Lima 422 Class locomotive for re-power, HO

This is a Chassis to re-power a Lima 422 Class locomotive. NOT a complete locomotive.


Product Description
The original locomotive made by Lima uses a dated motor and electrical system. The original Pancake/Ringfield motors can't compete with modern options and replacement kits to swap out the motors have been the defacto upgrade option. However these are a band aid fix. There is only so much you can do when only 4 of the 12 wheels pickup power and only 2 of the 6 axles are driven!!

This replacement chassis solves those issues. Electricity is picked up on all 12 wheels and all 6 axles are driven. Combined with a large flywheel motor and you have a locomotive that has leapfrogged into the 21st century.

Needless to say, Electrical and Mechanical performance is greatly improved over the original chassis

Installation;
This entirely replaces the original chassis.

To use this chassis a small amount of modification may be required.
  1. The original window insert may have a protrusion in the middle as part of Lima's manufacturing process, if there is one it needs to be snipped as it will interfere with the motor
  2. These are designed to be a snug fit in the shell, as well as latching onto the original shell clips
Important: By default these will be assembled with generic bogie/truck sideframes. However it is possible to modify the original Lima sideframes for use on these bogies. Message me for more information.

Technical information;
  • Dimensions (not including couplers): ~210(L)x33(W)x40(H) mm
  • Motor: 5 pole with carbon brushes, dual brass flywheels
  • Electrical pickup; all wheels via split axles (6 wheels per polarity)
  • Gear system; Worm gear in bogie, then spur gears to each axle
  • LEDs; 3mm, warm white, w/resistor
  • Couplers; Bachmann E-Z Mate (or equivalent) knuckle couplers
Includes; 1x Pre-assembled chassis
