These new grippers will allow you to mount bowls and other turnings that could not be mounted using the grippers that come with your Nova chuck and Cole jaws. Before, if your bowl had an edge that dropped down it couldn’t be held on the grippers and you’d have to find another way to turn the base or foot. With these grippers you can grip edges that drop down up to ¾ of an inch and still get a secure hold on the piece.
 
These grippers are made of aluminum that has a long lasting and bright red anodized coating. They are covered with Tygon, a very tough and resilient polymer, for great gripping power that is gentle to the edge of the bowl. They are held with button head socket hex drive screws that use the same hex wrench that you use to mount the jaws on the chuck, so you won’t need another tool to use them.
 
Since the bolt holds against the aluminum the grippers won't deform as you tighten them to the jaws. Also, since these are machined you won’t have any run out, which causes wobbling, like you get with the standard rubber grippers. As long as your work is turned round you can mount and remount with very little if any alignment concerns. Once you start to use these you’ll likely never use the standard grippers again even if you don’t need the additional height these give you. In one of the photos I show these holding a bowl with a dropped edge. The point of contact is about ½ inch above the face of the jaw. Try that with your standard grippers.
 
In the photos I show these being used on several chucks and in different ways. They hold well on both inside and outside holding jobs. Your imagination and specific needs will certainly find new ways to use these grippers to expand the use of your chuck.

They will NOT fit the Barracuda chuck.
 
The kit includes 8 grippers with Tygon covering and 8 bolts. This system will work with any scroll chuck that has M6-1.0 threads for mounting. You can also use these without the Cole jaws since they will attach directly to the slides in the chuck. This can be handy for smaller work.
