Pennsylvania State 3x5 Flag - 150 Denier Nylon

Pennsylvania State 3x5 Flag - 150 Denier Nylon
Official Pennsylvania State Flag 1907 – Present
The Pennsylvania State Legislature approved the use of the state coat of arms on a flag for the state militia on April 9th, 1799. Several variations of the design were used throughout the 19th century. On June 19th, 1907 a flag for non-military use was formally adopted by the legislature and is still in use today. The official design requires that the official Pennsylvania Coat of Arms is to be centered on a field of blue that is the same blue as that of the American Flag. The coat of arms design consists of a central shield supported on either side by two black draft horses symbolizing the fact that the state has done a large amount of trade over the years. Within the golden, ornately bordered shield is pictured a merchant ship carrying the state’s commerce to parts all around the world. Below the ship is a plow thus recognizing Pennsylvania’s robust natural and agricultural resources and then three gold sheaves of wheat representing fertile fields that the state has been blessed with. Just below the shield appears a crossed corn stalk and olive branch which are symbols of peace and prosperity. Along the very bottom, is a draped red banner emblazoned with the state motto “Virtue, Liberty, and Independence”. Above the shield is an American Bald Eagle which signifies the state’s loyalty to the United States. The Pennsylvania State flag is one of eight US state flags to feature an eagle as part of the design. The other seven states are Oregon, Utah, North Dakota, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, and New York.
Nylon is a durable, lightweight material that will easily fly in a light breeze and features bright, rich colors. The artwork is visible on both sides of the flag and the lettering reads correctly from one side only.
