Vintage Sylvania/US Navy IB6I Flashlamp

For sale- a Vintage Sylvania/US Navy IB6I Flashlamp or light bulb or whatever, what you see is what you get.  What I see is one of the more elaborate bulbs I have ever seen, if you could tell me what the application was I would be delighted to hear from you.  Certainly possible that the IB6I is instead 1B61 but I doubt it.  Looks like it is in the original military packaging so I would guess it to be new and in never used without having any way of knowing that.
