Australian romantic author Kate (Rachel Griffiths) believes her own lovelife has taken a fairytale turn when she meets the rugged Jack (Tcheky Karyo), who has left his Papua New Guinea home to visit the mainland. Returning to his remote island retreat, Kate begins to suspect Jack is not the man of her dreams after all: in fact his obsessive desire for her leads her to believe the death of his previous wife had not been an accident.
