This is a US Army Quarpel Raincoat from the Vietnam/Post-Vietnam era. Made of grey/olive green cotton/polyester fabric coated with Quarpel water resistant treatment.
It is a classic trench coat style, which closes with six buttons on the front, plus two buttons under the collar to button all the way up, one on the inside to secure the opposite lapel, and a button roughly at the knees for especially windy weather. There are two pockets at the side, with storm slits to allow easy access to pockets in garments worn underneath. the included friction buckle belt can be secured via a hidden tab to one of the belt loops. It has the epaulettes and cuff straps one expects to find on classic trench coats. The broad lapels can be buttoned all the way the the neck, with the gap between them covered with buttoned flap on the right shoulder. The large ulster style collar can be turned up to protect against the wind. The kick pleat on the back allows for unrestricted walking while remaining dry. completed unlined, this is a good choice for spring and especially rainy summer days, or can be layered over heavier clothes to keep dry in fall and early winter.
This coat is in very good condition, with no rips, tears, burst seams, and no stains or odors.
