Volume #36 in the Britannica Great Books of the Western World series. Jonathan Swift to Laurence Sterne.

ABOUT THE SERIES: The idea for the Great Books of the Western World began at the University of Chicago, where president Robert Hutchins worked with Mortimer Adler to develop a course similar to one at Columbia University, which used "round table" approach to reading and discussing great books among professors and undergraduates. The original editors had three criteria for including a book in the series: 1) the book must be relevant to contemporary matters, and not only important in its historical context; 2) it must be rewarding to re-read repeatedly with respect to liberal education; and 3) it must be a part of "the great conversation about the great ideas."
