After being drafted by the Twins in the 1st round of the 1993 MLB June Amateur Draft, Torii Hunter debuted with the Twins 4 years later on August 22, 1997, at Camden Yards.
However, Torii Hunter did not record a plate appearance in his debut game as he came off the bench as a pinch runner in the top of the 9th.
Back in Baltimore on Friday night, May 1, 1998, & in front of 43,233 at Camden Yards, Torii Hunter came off the bench again, this time as a pinch-hitter, with 2 outs in the top of the 8th inning & trailing 6-3.
Torii Kedar Hunter, the pride of Pine Bluff, AR, proceeded to blast the very 1st pitch he saw from Orioles reliever Arthur Rhodes for a base hit into RF for his first career hit!!
