Telephone Tokens of North America provides a detailed catalogue of all telephone tokens known to the author issued in North American countries.
Telephone tokens originated shortly after the first telephone was installed. Telephone tokens have been used in many countries for a variety of reasons, at attended pay stations and in public pay telephones.
This book catalogues the telephone tokens from 7 countries in North America: The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and the US. It includes over 485 tokens from over 90 token issuers and includes die varieties.
The listing of each token includes a full description of the obverse and reverse along with diameter, thickness, weight, shape, die orientation, border treatment and edge treatment. There are color pictures of the obverse and reverse. Where necessary I include closeup pictures to identify details. The known background and location of each token issuer is documented. I include notes to help define the token. I include references/catalogue numbers used in other catalogues. There is a cross reference which allows one to convert other catalogue numbers to my catalogue.
