Very good used original (not reproduction) first edition owners manual for 1937 Packard Super-Eight Models 1500, 1501 and 1502. Several years ago, we bought a lot of manuals from a collector in the dry country of eastern Washington who had kept automotive literature in the house. Since then, they have all been in our heated, dry store, including this one.
This manual has no musty smell. There are some light scuff marks on the front and back covers and a short tear at the bottom that carries through into all of the interior pages (please see photos). The cover has that lovely sturdy, soft, almost suede feeling that you can't get from paper anymore. On the interior pages there are three places where we could find handwriting. On the top of the first page is the number 25.00, which is presumably what the person we purchased this from paid for it several decades ago. On the next page, the (presumably) purchaser of the car wrote down in ink what the model of the car was, and included, we believe, his/her initials. They also put an arrow next to the wheelbase measurement. The car was a Model 1500 touring sedan. The last place we found writing was on page 39, where there are arrows next to information for the rear stop lamps.
If you want a manual that looks brand spanking new, a reproduction would probably be best. But if you want a manual that fits the era of your car, is clearly an original, and would add authenticity and history to your car, this would be an outstanding choice.
