The complete original album We Insist! Freedom Now Suite, co-composed by Max Roach with Oscar Brown Jr.. The album features a nonet + singer, including such luminaries as Coleman Hawkins, Julian Priester and Booker Little, plus the wonderful vocals of Abbey Lincoln. As a bonus, we have added the complete session originally issued under the name of the Jazz Artists Guild, and which originally appeared divided onto two different albums: The Jazz Life and Newport Rebels. Featuring a myriad of stars, this session also includes Max Roach on two tracks and Abbey Lincoln on the last one.
