Franco-Prussian War era Brass Enlisted Man's Belt Buckle ( 1847 ) from the Kingdom of Prussia. This item is 150+ years old. The buckle shows little wear and and based on it's age is in remarkable shape. Typically buckles have some type of denting, this example has slight dent on the crown. There are subtle differences to Prussian Belt Buckles prior to their Kings being proclaimed as German Emperor's at the conclusion of this war with France. This is an extremely rare item. I have 2 of these and the one pictured is the one that will ship when purchased.
The German 8th Army on the Eastern Front in WW1 had most of the old production Buckles for some unknown reason. Once Russia settled with the Central Powers in 1917 many of the German units were transferred to the Western Front for the balance of the war. This buckle could have started it’s service prior to the Franco-Prussian War in 1871 and finished in 1918.
