What is Epsom salt?

Epsom salt, also known as Magnesium Sulfate is a pure, natural occurring compound made up of magnesium, sulfur and oxygen.

It gets its name from the town of Epsom in Surrey, England where it was originally discovered. Despite its name, Epsom salt is completely different to table salt. It’s not recommended in cooking due to its bitter taste.

What can I use Epsom salt for?

• Epsom salt is very popular as an ingredient in bath bombs. We recommend using the same quantity as the citric acid in your recipe, or less.
• Epsom salt is a key ingredient in various at home beauty and spa treatments. It can gently exfoliate and brighten your skin, whilst also making your skin smooth and soft.
• Epsom salt can be used in baths to soothe muscle aches.
• Epsom salt crystals can also be used to make your own facial/body exfoliant – just mix with a carrier oil of your choice to get rid of dead skin cells and help your skin look smoother and healthier.
