DESCRIPTION:  Here is an uncommon early 19th century Wedgewood bone china coffee can and saucer. Decorated on a yellow swirl / fern pattern (possibly an Oriental motif) that appear to be raised enamel. Each side of the coffee can there is a gilt framed panel with an Oriental scene which are hand painted and enamelled. It has a loop shaped handle with a gilt leaf pattern running down the back. The saucer also having the yellow enamelled swirl / fern pattern ground and a gilt framed panels with Oriental scenes that are hand painted and enamelled. The saucer well has pink painted flowers and green enamelled leaves in a deep brown circular frame. Both coffee can and saucer have gilt lined rims. Each piece is marked to the base with a red printed upper case WEDGWOOD. The early wedgwood bone china was made between 1812 to 1822. This being a good example.

 

SIZE:  The coffee can measures 2 1/2 inches high by 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 5 3/8 inches in diameter by 1 inch high. 

CONDITION:  The coffee can is in very good condition with no chips cracks or restoration and rings well. The saucer has a little ware to the gilt top rim as show and a couple of black firing imperfections as per picture.  Also rings well.
