For sale is a NOS brand new, unused, unmodified with no shop wear or rust Silva 8mm diameter chrome seat bolt. This bolt consists of the bolt portion and the nut portion. The nut portion is knurled where it fits into the frame. The knurling is supposed to prevent the nut from spinning but if it does it has a 5mm allen recess where you can put a wrench to hold it. The bolt portion also accepts a 5mm allen wrench to tighten it. These bolts are affectionately referred to as "maypop bolts" because you have to be VERY careful when tightening because they may pop. The problem is that when the ears on the seat lug tighten the faces on the ears are no longer parallel to each other so the bolt bends as you turn it to tighten it. If this bolt breaks its not defective. Its just an imperfect seat lug situation. I highly recommend greasing the threads and use the least amount of torque to tighten the seat. This bolt comes in 2 lengths: 21 and 24mm when fully closed. The rulers in the pictures are there to show approximate sizes. In pictures 3 and 4 the bolts are balanced on small washers to hold everything straight while in the fully unthreaded position. The washers are not needed or included in the sale.
