This is the 1973 pattern "Wave" hand tufted and detail carved area rug designed by legendary rebel Danish designer Verner Panton and handmade today in India. He always had a fascination for organic shapes, which very often turned curvy or round, and he designed this rectangular pattern in a 7 tone-on-tone color gradient moving dark to light and back again. The curved elements in varying colors create transitions which give the impression of motion. This simple and bold graphic design in durable 100% New Zealand wool pile is meant to be an eye-catching accent. Also available in orange gradient and grey gradient colorways, see separate listings. The backing is hemmed heavy cotton canvas for a tailored finish. Wool is inherently soil resistant, anti static, anti microbial, and sound absorbing and is always a good long term choice, even for high traffic.
As an interior designer specialized in Scandinavian design for over 50 years, I have found there to be a lack of visually interesting and high quality area rugs in smaller sizes for spaces like entries, bedrooms, halls, dens, porches, and offices, and have scouted and sourced some of my favorites from various Scandinavian and European designers for this special small size collection in my Ebay shop. Check back for ongoing additions! Please inquire if you are looking for another size. While colors are determined only by the designer, sizes can often be custom scaled. Delivery 6-12 weeks and includes US shipping.
