VINTAGE 1969 Ernest Hemingway A LIFE STORY by CARLOS BAKER
This biography brings into sharp focus a picture of one of the most unusual men of our time. Previously blurred by legends and half-truths, the life of Ernest Hemingway has never until now been represented as it was, not have the relationships between his works of fiction and his actual experiences been shown in true perspective.

Papa Hemingway a personal memoir - by A.E. Hotchner
Have read many books and biographies on this brilliant, fascinating man. Hotchner's is the most pure and intimate account....the best book if you want to get to know "the real man". I prefer to read what is written by people who knew him, worked directly with him, or are in fact, related to him.
Also, I feel that his so called mental illness is not recorded correctly....and that there is more we need to know. For starters, the awful shock treatments - how these could have affected his brain, hence his behavior....we will learn more as science probes. So, to make him out to be crazy is a pathetic excuse of an effort to learn about the real fellow by focusing on this negative, when there is so much more to his character, his personality. Also, I chose to read that which does not suffer the editorial rights of Mary Hemingway!!!!! She did not approve of Hotchner's book - made me really want to run out and buy it, and that I did. An absolute must! Thank you A. E. Hotchner!
