VASE SEDLJOUKIDE EN BRONZE A DECOR EN RELIEF
Cruche en bronze à col droit, corps piriforme, fond plat, anse en forme de sangle et bec retourné. Les charnières pour un couvercle sont conservées autour du rebord. 
Le corps est inscrit en creux d'un texte en persan.
Les Seldjoukides étaient une dynastie turque qui a balayé l'Asie centrale au début du 10ème siècle et a conquis une immense étendue, couvrant la plupart ou la totalité du Turkménistan actuel, l'Iran, l'Irak, la Turquie et au-delà. Après avoir infligé des défaites militaires écrasantes à une foule de rivaux, dont le plus célèbre était peut-être celui contre les Byzantins à la bataille de Manzikert en 1071, les sultans seldjoukides devinrent de grands mécènes de l'art et de l'architecture.

NEAR EASTERN SELJUK INSCRIBED BRONZE JUG
Ca. 1100 AD. Seljuk. Bronze jug with straight neck, piriform body, flat bottom, strap handle and upturned spout. The remains of hinges for a lid are preserved around the rim. 
The body is engraved with a persian callygraphy
The Seljuks were a Turkic dynasty who swept out of Central Asia in the early 10th century and conquered an enormous expanse, covering most or all of present-day Turkmenistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey and beyond. After inflicting crushing military defeats on a host of rivals, the most famous of which was perhaps that against the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, the Seljuk sultans became major patrons of art and architecture. Good condition; beautiful patina.
