Dragon 7344 1/72 WWII German Sd.Kfz.184 Ferdinand (Plastic model)
This is a 1/72 scale plastic model assembly kit of the Elephant, a tank destroyer equipped with a long-barreled 8.8cm gun developed and operated by the German Army during World War II.
[About actual car]
- The Ferdinand (Elephant) is a German heavy tank destroyer of World War II, with its long barrel 71 caliber 8.8cm gun and heavy armor up to 200mm.
- Developed by Dr. Porsche for the Tiger tank, the body that was rejected in a competitive prototype with Henschel has a new fixed battle compartment and is equipped with a PaK43/271 caliber 8.8cm tank gun.
- Above all, it was characterized by adopting a drive system with a unique mechanism called an engine power generation motor drive system. From March to May 1943, 90 cars were produced using the car body prepared at the time of the competition prototype.
- It was immediately put into action in the Battle of Kursk against the Soviet Union in July, demonstrating its power.
- Although it suffered from obstacles due to its unique system and lack of mobility due to its weight, it continued to fight bravely until the end of the war, such as being dispatched to the defense of Berlin.
