Vintage Ceramic Elephant Cincinnati Zoo Figurine with 2 Large Top Holes for Nodder Pieces or Other Displays

Here is a vintage elephant figurine from the Cincinnati Zoo. It has 2 large holes on top, but I'm not sure the actual purpose of this piece. An appetizer display, maybe? Or maybe it held something like flags or flowers. Just. Not. Sure.

**Note--I've been informed that this elephant is part of a nodder, which held a clown and a dog in each cavity. While those 2 pieces are gone, the elephant itself is still a very unique and cool piece which can easily stand alone or be repurposed to make a statement in any setting!

And I can't find anything else like it, so it's unique, to be sure!

It's in good vintage condition, but there is some paint flecking off in spots. It is signed "Pat" on the rump, wears a bright orange blanket with birds and flowers, and the remains of the banner on top at one time said, "?????? Zoo, Cincinnati, Ohio". It measures approximately 5" l x 3.5" t x 2" w.
