VENINI
Description: Venini Deco Vase - Opalini manufacturing technique. Lattimo is an opaque white glass, invented in Murano around the mid-15th century with the aim of imitating the first porcelains that were very fashionable in Europe. It is obtained by overlapping the milk glass with a glass or more thin transparent and colored glasses, obtaining splendid objects with intense and bright colours. To embellish softly colored glass, gold and silver leaves are included on the entire surface, obtaining splendid "Aurati" objects.
Design “ Napoleone Martinuzzi (1892 – 1977) was one of the most important innovators in Murano glass art and artistic director of Venini from 1925 to 1931. There are many new glass techniques applied in his creations which include sculptures, lamps and collectibles, which unequivocally bear his distinctive mark.” He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice where he made his debut in 1908 at Ca' Pesaro with sculptures and repoussé works. In 1910 he moved to Rome. In 1914 he was present with his works at the II International Secession Exhibition. He participated in numerous collective exhibitions between 1917 and 1922. In the 1920s he dedicated himself to glass, experimenting with new techniques. He directed the Murano Glass Museum from 1922 to 1931.
